Awakening the Creator Within: Dismantling the ‘I Am Not Creative’ Myth
Have you ever caught yourself saying, “I’m not creative”?
Maybe it was after struggling to draw as a child, or perhaps a teacher or parent unknowingly planted that seed of doubt. Many of us grew up in an environment where creativity was undervalued, dismissed, or even criticized—especially if it didn’t fit within society’s rigid standards.
But here’s the truth: Creativity is not exclusive to artists, musicians, or writers. Creativity is in all of us.
Where Did the ‘I Am Not Creative’ Belief Come From?
1. Early Invalidation – A parent, teacher, or peer might have dismissed your creative expressions. Being told “that doesn’t look right” or “you’re not good at this” as a child can shape lifelong beliefs.
2. The ‘No Money in the Arts’ Mentality – Many were conditioned to believe that creativity is not a practical or profitable path. This suppresses exploration and self-expression.
3. Society’s Standards of Creativity – We’re taught to associate creativity with grand artistic talent rather than everyday acts of innovation.
4. School-Based Comparison – Graded artwork, comparisons to others, and external validation made creativity feel like a skill to be judged rather than a gift to be nurtured.
☕ This was me.
Growing up, I was told that there was no money in the arts and that daydreaming was a waste of time. I thought creativity belonged only to painters whose works were featured in museums, or to singers, musicians, and actors who shone on TV. I never saw myself as “creative.”
And when I did try? My creativity was criticized.
In high school, I took an Interior Design class where we had to design a living room. I was so excited about my vision—but my close friends immediately shot it down. “It’s too dark,” “the colors don’t match,” “why would you pick those?” I felt invalidated. Maybe I really wasn’t creative.
But years later, I realized something profound: Creativity isn’t just about art. It’s about the ability to bring something into existence.
Now, I embrace my creativity in ways I never expected—through my gift for words and writing, my Excel prowess, and my talent for organizing events. My creativity didn’t disappear; it simply didn’t fit into the traditional mold of what creativity was “supposed” to look like.

Redefining Creativity: It’s in ALL of Us
The word “creative” comes from the root “create”—and we are all creators in some form. Every day, we create something, whether we realize it or not.
• The meal you cook? Creation.
• The email you write? Creation.
• The way you organize your space? Creation.
• The social media post you craft? Creation.
• The way you solve problems? Creative Thinking.
Creativity is not just about painting or writing poetry—it’s about bringing ideas, solutions, and expressions to life. It is woven into the very fabric of existence, deeply tied to the Divine Feminine, our ability to birth ideas, nurture visions, and manifest desires.
The Power of the Right Brain & The Sacral Chakra
Our right brain governs imagination, intuition, and artistic abilities. However, in a left-brain-dominant world of logic and structure, many of us have neglected this part of ourselves.
Additionally, our Sacral Chakra—the energy center located just below the navel—is the seat of creativity and creation. When blocked, we feel uninspired, stuck, and disconnected from our creative flow. Activating this chakra can reignite our ability to express ourselves freely.
Overcoming the ‘I Am Not Creative’ Mindset
1. Release Limiting Beliefs – Identify where your creativity was stifled and challenge those old narratives.
2. Engage in Play – Try something new without judgment. Doodle, dance, cook, sing—create without attachment to results.
3. Shift Your Definition of Creativity – Recognize that creativity exists in all forms. Problem-solving, innovation, and even personal expression are creative acts.
4. Activate Your Right Brain – Meditation, daydreaming, and engaging in fluid activities (like free writing or painting) can unlock creative flow.
5. Balance Your Sacral Chakra – Movement (such as dance or yoga), sacral affirmations, and embracing pleasure can open this energy center.
6. Embrace the Age of Aquarius – We are living in a time of revolution, where creators are rising. The digital age is giving voice to all forms of creativity—there is space for YOUR unique expression.
